      Overview:

      As the Transportation Coordinator - Rail, your primary role is to manage flow of material to external customers and storage facilities, ensuring timely movement and delivery of all loaded and empty covered hopper cars. In fulfilling this role, you will have an integral role in ensuring continuous supply to customers while balancing Graymont’s yard capacity (on site and at storage-in-transit locations).

      RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES :

      Railcar Management

      • Track and trace Graymont’s loaded covered hopper cars in transit; work with railroads and others to resolve issues
      • Communicate delays to internal operations and sales/customer service teams
      • Monitor and communicate changes to transit times based on transit performance or other unplanned operational issues (environmental events, strikes, etc.)
      • Execute diversion and re-bill requests for both loaded and empty cars
      • Manage individual covered hopper cars by request via “HOT” list
      • Ensure empty railcars are traveling under current billing/ issue new empty car billing as required for fleet realignment or maintenance requirements.
      • Assist in customer supply reliability complaint investigations and mitigations
      • Collaborate internally on supply reliability improvement opportunities
      • Monitor onsite and in-transit railcar usage; work with railroads, customer and railcar storage providers to move empty and loaded covered hoppers cars as needed to minimize/mitigate demurrage exposure and improve equipment utilization.
      • Escalate issues with both Commercial and Operations Management as needed
      • Submit railcar bad orders to schedule repairs, etc.
      • Railcar Data Maintenance
      • Maintain railcar master data in TEAMS, SHIPXPRESS, RAILINC and any other applicable systems including railcar characteristics and preventative maintenance plans
      • Document rates in TEAMS for empty and loaded rail movements.
      • Assist freight payables with resolving invoice issues for all logistic related services (rail rate discrepancies, empty covered hopper car movements, demurrage, etc.); work issues with carriers as needed
      • Assist Sr. Transportation Specialist – Rail with PO administration for empty moves, leases, repairs.
      • Develop and manage covered hopper car reports for key stakeholders to assist in railcar tracking and delivery performance improvements.
      • Maintain vendor profiles, including contact names, numbers address, capabilities and agreements.
      • Assist Sr. Transportation Specialist – Rail with collection and publication of month end reporting, KPI and account reconciliations.
      • Continuous Improvement
      • Identify opportunities for delivery performance improvement through metrics and data evaluation
      • Assist Logistics Manager and Sr. Transportation Specialist – Rail with carrier negotiations and agreements, and in various continuous improvement projects and initiatives to reduce costs through improving transit times, reducing storage, diversions & empty car repositioning cost
      • Maintain associated KPIs and ensure targets are met
      • Analyze gaps in service, recommend solutions, and implement agreed upon actions
      • Provide back-up support the Supply Chain team.
      • Complete and maintain route determinations 286 #Gross Weight on Rail

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Rail experience (3-5 Years); Preferred: Experience with bulk rail shipments a plus
      • Highly preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics or Business
      • Strong initiative and motivation to understand the business, identify, investigate, and take action on value creation opportunities.
      • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; able to adapt the message to the audience.

      • Problem solving, analytical, organization, and time management skills

      • Experience utilizing railcar tracking software

      • Ability to travel up to 10% of time.
