What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct research on national security-related topics and present findings to the RAND community
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyze policy problems of national and international importance
- Engage in networking and attend seminars to enhance professional development
- Work closely under the guidance of one to two established RAND researchers
- Complete a 12-week summer assignment with a focus on applied, policy-oriented research questions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a full-time doctoral student in political science, history, public policy, public administration, international relations, or related fields
- At least two years of graduate work completed and within two years of obtaining a doctorate or professional degree
- Strong analytic skills and proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing
- Proof of legal right to work in the United States upon hire
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Interest or experience in military systems, future force structure, or national military strategy
- Eligibility for or current holding of a U.S. government security clearance
