Description:
"Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Rapid Prototyping Technician to support the design and development of early-stage product concepts. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in developing and fabricating prototypes, models, and samples to support product design, development, and engineering teams. This role involves operating and maintaining a range of 3D printers including Polyjet, FDM, DMP, SLA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and maintain 3D printer rapid prototyping equipment
● Ensure provided CAD files are print ready
● Prepare files for printing, optimizing for speed, quality and quantity
• Interpret CAD input and technical documentation to fabricate prototypes.
● Collaborate with design and engineering teams to interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, or 3D models to create prototypes that meet project requirements.
● Use feedback from stakeholders to refine and improve prototypes for functionality and manufacturability.
● Make material and print technology recommendations based on the project requirements
• Post-process printed or machined parts (e.g., cleaning, support removal, sanding, painting, assembly).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe prototyping lab environment.
• Track inventory of materials and supplies; order replacements as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance.
• Document prototyping processes and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality.
● Stay updated on the latest advancements in prototyping technologies and recommend improvements or acquisitions for enhanced capabilities.
● Maintain clear records of work processes, design changes, and prototype iterations.
● Track projects accurately through work order system

Qualifications:
Required:
• Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related field.
● Proven experience in rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing (e.g., 3D printing operations).
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in a prototyping or fabrication environment.
● Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., 3Dexpert, Magics, Creo, Netfabb, ) and MS Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
• Familiarity with additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
● Strong understanding of material properties and their applications in prototyping contexts.
● Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with prototyping machines and processes.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of materials science and mechanical testing.
• Experience in a fast-paced R&D environment.
● Understanding of product lifecycle development and manufacturing readiness.

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
