      Job summary

      At Briercliffe Surgery we have an exciting opportunity for a receptionist / administrator to join the team.

      It is the responsibility of each Receptionist to:

      Assist in the smooth running of the practice, the reception area and to project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person or via the telephone.

      To facilitate patients accessing the clinical care provided by the practice.

      To support the GPs and Nurses in providing that care.

      To act as first point of contact for anyone accessing the practice.

      To be able to work at a fast pace across a range of general and specialist administrative tasks and provide efficient support and assistance to senior managers.

      The roles and responsibilities may change according to the business requirements.

      Main duties of the job

      To thrive in this role, you will need to enjoy the challenge of dealing with patient issues and queries. You will be required to use your exceptional organisational and prioritising skills, combined with a passion for helping and assisting others. Problem solving skills on a day to day basis surrounding issues relating to your work are essential. Furthermore, you will also enjoy working closely as a team to achieve shared objectives and ensure daily priorities are delivered. Patients expect a high standard of healthcare and outstanding customer service, so working as a team to meet and manage these expectations is important. Prior Knowledge of the NHS and Emis Web would be an advantage but full training will be given.

      About us

      Briercliffe Surgery is run by a partnership consisting of Dr Jawaid Khan, Dr Mark Fuller (GP Partner) and Mr Methven Forbes (Managing Partner) through a limited company.

      Briercliffe GP Surgery has a registered population of over 8,000 patients and has a dedicated team of GPs, Paramedic, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      To ensure that all visitors and telephone callers to the practice are greeted professionally.

      To ensure all telephone calls are managed appropriately and the care navigation template is used at all times

      To manage the flow of patients arriving at the reception desk, for appointments, prescriptions or queries.

      To ensure new patient registrations are completed daily.

      A willingness to learn new skills, for example Medical coding, Insurance and private work completion and secretarial responsibilities.

      Using Care Navigation, direct patients to an appropriate clinician or service ensuring protocols and policies are strictly adhered to.

      To ensure that repeat prescriptions and email prescriptions are generated accurately and efficiently, within the 48 hours specified by the practice.

      Excellent time-keeping skills and an organised approach to work.

      Review all incoming correspondence using recodes, pertinent information into the patients electronical medical record in accordance with the Coding Protocol.

      Organise the medical record of patient whom you are coding, to link problem titles, group system development and assign the appropriate statues to medical information

      To carry out administrative related tasks as delegated by Clinical Lead and Practice Manager.
