      Job summary

      South Street Surgery in Bishops Stortford has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our busy practice team on a part or full-time basis for 27, 30 or 37 hours per week, to help make a positive impact on our local community. All working patterns will require some early shifts starting at 8am, and some Saturdays mornings on a rota.

      You will handle telephone calls in a positive and efficient manner, assisting with front desk duties, processing prescriptions and e-consults and general administrative duties.

      Main duties of the job

      • Greeting and directing all patients;
      • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required;
      • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
      • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
      • Advising patients of practice procedures;
      • Registering new patients;
      • Answering the telephone, promptly.

      South Street Surgery operates from three premises in the town of Bishops Stortford, providing services for about 22,500 patients. We work closely with the other local practices in Stort Valley and Villages PCN to develop our vision for the future of primary care services in this area.

      Our mission is to provide Excellence in Care. We are rated as Good by CQC on our last inspection. We have consistently been a high QOF achieving surgery. We have Investors in People Award and believe in training and developing our staff. Our surgery has many years experience of teaching, training and developing our staff and trainees. We have GP trainers and associate trainers and we enjoy teaching our GP registrars, foundation doctors, medical students and physician associate students.
