      We are seeking a friendly, organised, and proactive Receptionist to join our busy GP practice working 20 hours per week. As the first point of contact for patients, you will provide excellent customer service both in person and over the phone.

      Main duties of the job

      Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to booking appointments, handling patient queries, managing incoming communications, and supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

      Job responsibilities

      The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist:

      a. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

      b. Answering incoming phone calls and directing patients to the appropriate service

      c. Receiving and directing patients on arrival in surgery

      d. Booking in-surgery appointments, remote appointments and home visits

      e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

      f. Updating patients records (e.g. contact details) as necessary

      g. Managing all queries, passing urgent messages on as appropriate and ensuring effective handover to colleagues where matters are unresolved at the end of a shift

      h. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

      i. Monitoring and maintaining the reception area and notice boards

      j. Supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

      k. Completing opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota

      This list is not exhaustive and there may be a requirement to carry out other tasks as necessary; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
