      Job summary

      Noakbridge Medical Centre are looking to welcome a receptionist/ care navigator to join our friendly team. The Care Navigator will play a crucial role in assisting and directing patients to accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional, in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

      The Ideal candidate will be:

      • be able to work under pressure at busy times and multi-task.

      Experience

      • Previous experience of working at a GP practice or healthcare setting is preferred.
      • Proficiency in using computerised systems, including Systmone.
      • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
      • Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
      • Experience in data entry and clerical work is advantageous.
      • A compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards individuals' needs.

      Main duties of the job

      • Welcoming patients via telephone or face to face.
      • Answering incoming calls in a prompt, friendly efficient manner.
      • Booking of appointments.
      • Arranging home visit requests.
      • Signposting patients to the correct clinician.
      • Receiving and processing daily e-consults from patients.
      • Handing repeat prescription/med3 requests.
      • Liaising with members of practice team.
      • Managing out-going correspondence.
      • Updating patient demographics.
      • General administration duties.
      • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and data entry into relevant systems.

      Noakbridge Medical Centre is a small, friendly practice with a patient population of 3400, based on the outskirts of Basildon, and operates from a purpose built practice. We are high QOF achievers and use SystmOne clinical system. We aim to provide high standard of medical care and we are always fully committed to patient needs.

      The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

      a. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system

      b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

      c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

      d. Signpost patients to the correct service

      e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

      f. Code data on the clinical IT system

      g. Photocopy documentation as required

      h. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

      i. Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary

      j. Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team

      k. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

      l. Carry out system searches as requested

      m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

      n. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

      o. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
