Assisting the on-call GP with patient triage:You will support the on-call GP by efficiently managing incoming patient queries, signposting urgent cases, and ensuring that triage requests are logged and prioritised appropriately. This may include gathering basic patient information, updating clinical records, and facilitating smooth communication between patients and the clinical team to ensure timely and effective care.
Welcoming and assisting patients with a friendly and professional approach:You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a warm and approachable welcome. Whether in person or over the phone, you will offer reassurance, assist with queries, and direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service. A patient-centered approach and excellent customer service skills are essential.
Handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries:You will manage a high volume of calls and face-to-face interactions, ensuring that patient queries are handled promptly and professionally. This includes scheduling appointments, responding to general practice enquiries, and signposting patients to appropriate services, always maintaining a calm and empathetic manner.
Booking and managing appointments using our clinical system:You will be responsible for scheduling, amending, and cancelling appointments using our clinical system. This includes ensuring that urgent cases are prioritised appropriately, minimising wait times, and assisting patients in booking follow-up consultations or specialist referrals as needed.
Processing prescription requests and other administrative tasks:You will handle patient requests for repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and within agreed timescales. Additionally, you will support the wider administrative team with tasks such as scanning, filing, updating patient records, handling incoming correspondence, and ensuring all paperwork is processed efficiently.

You must comply with GDPR and NHS confidentiality policies, ensuring all patient interactions and records are handled with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
