      Job summary

      We are looking to recruit a receptionist to join our busy GP practice who will be the first point of contact for patients, contractors, and visitors as well as carrying out general office management tasks.

      Main duties of the job

      This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised and an effective communicator who can provide a professional and warm welcome to our patients, ensuring every contact is of the highest quality.

      About us

      We pride ourselves in offering a friendly, efficient and professional service for approximately 25,000 patients operating over 3 sites, two sites are in Gorleston and one in Hopton.

      The practice has a dynamic team of GPs, ANPs, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, HCA's, Phlebotomist, a Managerial team and administrative support staff.

      We are active members of the Gorleston Primary Care Network.

      We are a well established training practice, involved with GP Registrars, Foundation Year 2 trainees. Also, an accredited research practice.

      Job responsibilities

      You will be responsible for the general reception duties within the Practice and work with our established processes, policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high-quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries.

      Also, have excellent communication skills, a compassionate and friendly nature who can operate in a busy environment with a range of people and professions, as you will be working our clinical and administration teams.

      Administration

      To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.

      To work in accordance with written protocols.

      Processing electronic documents.

      Pulling/filing notes when necessary and update as required.

      Reception

      Greeting and helping patients with any enquiries.

      Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patients and checking names and addresses.

      Covering all reception positions within the whole practice as necessary.

      Appointments

      Process appointment and visit requests from patients by telephone, online and in person

      Computer

      Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.

      Process patients change of address computer data and medical records

      Understand the layout and significance of Practice boundary.

      Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.

      Data entry.

      Telephone

      Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.

      Other Tasks

      Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm. Understand fire drill and panic alarm procedure.

      Stock up clinical room.

      Make coffee for Doctors/colleagues.

      Any other tasks allocated by senior staff

      Attend all training required by the organisation.

      Chaperone clinical staff when requested

      • Attention to detail, able to work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily

      Desirable

      • Experience of working in a medical or primary care setting
      • Computer literate with an ability to use the required GP clinical systems

      Qualifications

      • GCSEs at grade C or equivalent (or 4-9), including English and Maths

      Desirable

      • Training in administration/clerical duties at NVQ level or above
      • NVQ Level 2/3 in Customer Services or Health Care or related discipline
