      General Description

      Provides a variety of general administrative support services to the Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s office and serves as the first point of contact for the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel. This front-line position must be knowledgeable about all aspects of the services provided by and work of the department and organization in order to respond to the myriad of questions from callers and refer callers to the appropriate individuals in the organization. This position also supports the Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel handling various administrative responsibilites and is cross-trained to handle legal secretary responsibilities as needed. Involves frequent contact with the public, State Bar membership, State Bar staff, and individuals and organizations outside the State Bar.

      Primary Functions

    • Responds to calls for service, information, and assistance; routes calls to the appropriate individual or department; and provides information to callers and visitors about the attorney grievance process, status of a pending grievance or service request, and/or provides other resources.
    • Responds to general correspondence in response to requests for information and maintains logs of all requested information and responses.
    • Sorts and distributes incoming mail.
    • Maintains Outlook calendar and sends notifications of important information.
    • Performs other responsibilities and handles special projects as needed that may include legal secretary duties.
    • Position Requirements

      High school education or equivalent required. A minimum of two-years of related experience in customer service and administrative office work required. Requires technical competency including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams, as well as Adobe, Zoom, case tracking software and on-line databases. Requires the following skills: verbal and written communication, listening, customer service, conflict management, and attention to detail. Bilingual in Spanish required.

      This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of remote work and in office at the discretion of employer.
