      We're looking for a friendly, reliable Receptionist to join our team. Youll be the first point of contact for our patients, so excellent communication skills, a calm approach, and a helpful attitude are essential.       Main duties of the job

      As a Receptionist at Kilburn Park Medical, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, whether in person, by phone or online.

      Your responsibilities will include greeting patients in a professional and welcoming manner, handling appointment bookings and cancellations, and managing enquiries with accuracy and sensitivity.

      You will maintain up-to-date patient records, process repeat prescriptions, and support the clinical team with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing and data entry. You will help ensure the smooth running of reception, monitor waiting areas, and liaise with colleagues to manage patient flow efficiently.

      You'll need to prioritise tasks, stay calm under pressure, and handle confidential information in line with data protection and practice policies. This is a busy, patient-facing role that requires excellent communication, strong IT skills, attention to detail and a flexible, team-oriented approach.

      Duties:

      • Greet, receive and direct patients.
      • Give completed prescriptions to patients, checking the name and address.
      • Deal with general telephone enquiries.
      • Process appointment requests by patients, both in person and over the telephone.
      • Record messages for staff, including doctors and nurses.
      • Record requests for home visits and repeat prescriptions.
      • Extract patient files for surgeries, house calls and routine enquiries.
      • File paperwork in the relevant patient file.
      • Input patient information on computer, including under templates.
      • Email and photocopy as requested.
      • Be able to navigate correctly on Emis Web
      • Have a working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours.
      • Attending weekly briefings

      Experience required:

      • Ideally, previous medical reception experience
      • Excellent administration and communication skills

      • Strong computer literacy especially in MS applications
      • Ability to show patience, empathy and diplomacy when required and to be able to work under pressure.
