      Job summary

      The closing date for this vacancy is 18.4.25 but we will close it prior to this date if we find a suitable applicant in the meantime.

      We are looking for a friendly and efficient Receptionist to join our well established team.

      Experience of using Emis Web and Docman systems is desirable.

      You must be flexible with regards to hour of work as cover for colleagues annual leave and sickness will be required and also be prepared to work over two sites between the hours of 7am 6.30pm. We are looking for a part time member of staff to cover the following hours:

      Monday 8.00am until 6.00pm with an hour lunch

      Wednesday 9am until 1pm

      Thursday 1pm until 6pm

      Friday 8.00am until 6.00pm with an hour lunch

      You will be expected to work an occasional Saturday morning from 8.30am-12 noon. The rate of pay will be negotiable depending upon experience.

      The successful applicant will also benefit from 5 weeks of paid annual leave plus bank holidays and have the option of enrolling into the NHS pension scheme.

      Main duties of the job

      The duties will include dealing with patients, booking appointments, issuing of prescriptions, answering the telephone, handling and solving all patient queries, entering data accurately, registering new patients and other general reception and administrative duties. The position can be very demanding and fast moving at times so the ability to learn new skills quickly and easily and prioritize workload are essential skills. You must be computer literate, possess good communication skills.

      Job Summary: The receptionist is responsible for dealing with all matters concerning the non-medical care of patients, either on the Surgery premises or via the telephone

      Responsibilities

      Reception Duties

      • Greeting & Directing patients and other visitors to the surgery
      • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards
      • Accepting & handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles etc.
      • Dealing with requests for visits and information
      • Registering new patients, temporary patients, emergency patients and those requiring immediate treatment

      Telephone Duties

      • Making appointments
      • Dealing with requests for visits and recording them on the computer
      • Taking messages for doctors and nurses and recording them on the computer
      • Telephoning hospitals for test results and to make appointments
      • Ordering of ambulances, both routine & emergency

      General

      • Filing of Medical Records, letters and test results (Mail Manager)
      • Repeat Prescriptions
      • Contacting patients who need to be seen regarding test results, hospital letters or for medication review
      • Sorting & improving medical records and renewing envelopes where necessary
      • Entering patient information and/or treatment on to the computer
      • Clearing Doctors desks of prescriptions and Sick Notes and ensuring they are locked away
      • Keeping waiting room and reception tidy
      • Showing a pleasant and cheerful manner to patients at all times
      • Ensure total confidentiality in that no information about patients, either medical or personal is disclosed to persons other than those employed by or attached to the practice for whom such information is relevant
