- Greeting patients and visitors at the front desk.
- Answering telephone calls and dealing with patient queries.
- Booking, amending and cancelling appointments using the practice clinical systems.
- Contacting patients for routine screening appointments.
- Communicating with the clinical team, GP's and other health professionals.
- Receiving/processing incoming mail, electronic correspondence and prescription requests.
- Administrative tasks as required by the practice manager or clinicians.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Be able to speak professionally and confidently to different patient groups, colleagues and clinicians.
- Understand primary care or have been in an NHS setting in the past.
- Strong IT skills, with experience with SystmOne is desirable but not essential.
- Work under pressure and remain calm in challenging situations.
- Organised, flexible and a good team player
- Have a good understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.

Job summary
Bluebell Surgery in Highwoods, Colchester, is looking to recruit a receptionist/administrator to join our small team on a part-time basis for 26 hours per week. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing an efficient, friendly and compassionate service as we arecommitted to delivering high-quality, patient centred care to our local community.
The successful applicant will have a mix of reception and administrative duties.

Bluebell Surgery is part of the North Colchester PCN. The PCN comprises of Mill Road Surgery, Winstree Road Surgery, Highwoods Surgery, Lawford Surgery and Bluebell Surgery. The PCN cares for approx 42,000 patients. Highwoods Surgery and Mill Road Surgery are learning organisations where trainee doctors and nurses regularly work alongside the PCN team.
Bluebell Surgery serves a patient population of 3700 and operates from a purpose built premises. We use SystmOne clinical system and are rated Good with CQC. We aim to provide a high standard of medical care and are always fully committed to patient needs. We are working towards new ways of providing access to our patients, and becoming more accessible in a variety of ways including face to face, via the phone and online.
