Position Summary
Responsible for administration and management of services and personnel in assigned nursing unit(s). Responsible for overseeing the nursing plan of care for patients within the assigned unit. Responsible to see that the nursing plan of care meets the physiological and emotional needs of the patients served. Directs patient care through performance and/or leadership of patient care team members and patient care management staff. Assists in the coordination of patient care through the appropriate utilization of all resources: staff, equipment, supplies, etc. As an expert to manage the assigned specialty, is a resource to both the medical center staff and physicians.
Position Summary:
The Recipient Rights Officer, under the general direction of the Director Behavioral Health, develops and maintains policies and procedures which safeguard the rights of the recipients of the services in the licensed psychiatric programs at McLaren. This employee monitors the recipient rights system to ensure compliance with the Michigan Mental Health Code and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services rules and regulations, and, the conditions of participation with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; plans, develops and presents in-service training for behavioral health employees and contract agency staff concerning the protection of recipient rights and performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the McLaren Health Care Mission, and subsidiary Vision and Values.
2. Develops and maintains policies and procedures to protect the rights of recipients in the licensed psychiatric and substance abuse programs
3. Prepares and presents in-service training programs to McLaren employees and contract agency staff concerning the protection of recipient rights
4. Monitors the recipient rights system relative to the success in protecting recipient rights
5. Investigates all allegations of recipient rights violations in a timely manner
