      Are you a records management and technology professional with an interest in working in local government? Do you have experience administering an electronic document management system and an understanding of local and federal laws as it relates to records management?

      The purpose of the class is to execute the daily operations of the management of public records for the City of Hampton. Assures compliance with federal and state laws, statutes, rules and regulations related to records management and data privacy, and disseminates related information to users of the City's records management systems. Assists and educates end users on matters concerning records management and retention. The class works independently developing work methods and sequences.

      Minimum Requirements
      • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or a closely related field of study.
      • Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience working with document and records management systems and policies, preferably in a municipal organization, and knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding the proper storage, security, and retention of electronic records.
      • A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
      • Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
      • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position.
      Additional Requirements
      • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
      • May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
      • May require some local travel.
      • The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules
