      The Folsom Parks & Recreation Department is hiring a Recreation Leader II - Front Desk Attendant to join the Sports Division.

      Under the direction of the Senior Recreation Coordinator, the Front Desk Attendant works in the Andy Morin Sports Complex, providing customer service, and supervision of other part-time staff. Casual/Seasonal Part-Time positions are hourly and are not eligible for benefits and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year. No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

      Location:
      This position location can vary but is based at the Andy Morin Sports Complex.

      Schedule
      • Duration: position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget.
      • Flexible and scheduled as needed, generally 15 - 20 hours per week.
      • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

      Note: Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with part-time positions.

      • Assist the public in person or by phone, answering inquiries related to department services, programs, or operations; establish and maintain customer accounts.
      • Accurately process point-of-sale transactions, activity registrations, and facility reservations using recreation software (RecTrac).
      • Count and verify cash drawers.
      • Balance and reconcile division cash drawers.
      • Troubleshoot problems and assist other staff with software issues.
      • Basic facility maintenance.
      • Other related duties as assigned.
      NOTE: The level and scope of the following knowledge and abilities are related to duties listed under the Examples of Essential Duties section of this specification.

      Knowledge of:
      • Customer service principles and practices.
      • Basic math ability to accurately count and handle money.
      • Effective verbal and written communications.
      • General knowledge of department programs.

      Ability to:
      • Perform basic computer operations: proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
      • Accurately carry out written and oral instructions.
      • Maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public.
      • Demonstrate enthusiasm, positive energy, and maturity.
      • Demonstrate a positive attitude and neat appearance.
      Education:
      High school diploma or G.E.D. required, some college preferred.

      Experience:
      Previous experience in customer service, cash handling, and typical office environment preferred.

      Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire date.

      Other Requirements:
      Available to work weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

      Physical Requirements:
      Work is performed in an indoor sports arena, which includes batting cages, basketball courts and an indoor soccer field. (1) Lifting: frequently up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds. (2) Vision: constant use of overall vision (4) Hearing/ Talking: frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the phone. (5) Emotional/ Psychological: frequent decision-making and concentration; frequent public and/or coworker contact; occasional working alone. (6) Environmental: frequent exposure to noise.

      Persons in this class are subject to a background check, which requires DOJ fingerprint clearance.
