      Valero is looking for a Refinery Analysis Accounting Specialist to join the team in Benicia, California. This position executes the day to day accounting and analysis activities which may include the Refinery’s financial planning, capital budgeting, cost accounting, expense budgeting, financial and statistical reporting. Other duties:

      • Prepares analysis, which may include the Refinery’s financial planning, capital budgeting, cost accounting, expense budgeting, financial and statistical reporting.
      • Prepares refinery financial forecasts, results of operations, capital budget and expense budgets, prepares analysis of variances to plan, prepares specific Solomon tables as needed, preparation of various financial and operating reports, he­adquarters accounting close support, and budget management support.
      • Assists Refinery Controller or other staff positions with reporting, analysis and special projects such as VLP tank drops, asset sales and strategic plan development.
      • Prepares accounting journals as needed and assists with Sarbanes-Oxley tests as required.
      • Follows safety rules and procedures as set forth by the company.

      This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

      The salary range for this position is $79,000 to $108,800 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.

      • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting required.
      • 5 or more years of Accounting experience required.
      • Master’s or higher level degree - in a related field preferred.
      • Experience in the refining and/or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
      • CPA certification preferred.
      • Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, theories, and ability to apply them to the Corporation's accounting needs required.
      • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation preferred.
      • Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications preferred.
      • Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization preferred.
      • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods preferred.
      • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes preferred.
      • Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage of department responsibilities preferred.
      • Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments preferred.
      • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements preferred.
      • Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel) preferred.
      • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Benicia Refinery in Benicia, California required.

      All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
