- Facilitate instrument maintenance – Oversee routine maintenance, troubleshoot/repair as needed, and/or coordinate contractor support.
- Learn Refinery Lab Methodology (ASTM, UOP and Internal Methods).
- Routine SQC monitoring.
- Review procedures for continued applicability and safety hazards, and write/edit procedures or work instructions as needed. Also, ensure conformance to ASTM or other referenced methods.
- Evaluate new instrumentation – obtain quotes, ensure application is appropriate, schedule installs, ensure appropriate infrastructure.
- Effectively communicate delays in data flow to customers and understand how customers use data.
- Understand the analytical methods and limitations for areas of responsibility.
- Review and optimize sample schedule and sampling frequency.
- Know specifications and consequences for processes and finished products.
- Become familiar with area-specific on-line instrumentation capabilities and communicate trends and action points to Instrumentation and area team.
- Serves as the Lab representative on a refinery area team.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field with four Chemistry courses and two Chemistry labs is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
- Minimum 3 or more years of relevant experience is required.
- Travel Expected: Up to 10%
