Job Description

- Utilize Calibration Program of Record readiness reports to monitor the accomplishment rates.
- Monitor calibration readiness status within their respective organizations, especially ships in a pre-deployment status.
- Ensure submarines pre-deployment calibration requirements are submitted to the local METCAL Coordinator at least 60 days before deployment.
- Conduct an inventory annually of all TMDE to confirm material condition and calibration due dates. Assist the Squadron units to ensure all TMDE calibrations will not expire during Western Pacific Operational deployments as well as extended local underway periods. Coordinate resolution of calibration problems found during support for assigned submarines.
- Provide independent assessment/feedback on TMDE calibration compliance to submarine Commanding Officer’s. Ensure each ISIC assigned Submarine maintains, by appointment in writing, a calibration coordinator/test equipment manager responsible for all matters related to the calibration of the ship's TMDE. Work with individual units to ensure they are taking a proactive approach with regard to turning in their TMDE prior to the expiration date of calibration.
- Ensure each ISIC assigned submarine maintains TMDE allowances in the SPETERL. Make contact with the CTRA Center to fill deficiencies prior to submarine submitting requisitions for replacement of test equipment through the supply system. Monitors each ISIC assigned submarine to ensure all required standards, procedures, documentation and certified personnel are onboard.
- Provide management reports to COMSUBPAC METCAL Manager and Squadrons detailing the status of their METCAL program and those of their tenant Commands.
- Introduce and train Fleet personnel on the TYCOM approved calibration recall system and METCAL program and are available to respond to database inquiries. Assist Squadron units in obtaining replacement TMDE when items turned in are beyond economical repair by providing a list of acceptable replacements to enable the unit to purchase the correct replacement unit. Monitor and participate in the development, installation, and testing of METCAL tools and software.
- Verify all METCAL program users have the required Navy provided training as detailed in task 5 and that all necessary equipment, documentation and calibration stickers are available.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with the 3M system and FMP management practices and a thorough knowledge of calibration programs and procedures.
- Minimum 8 years of experience interpreting and implementing a broad range of management policies in automated modernization management systems.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in ship maintenance, IMA, or submarine repair
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Ship’s 3M Coordinator and/or monitoring the 3M system while working in or with a ship or submarine Material Office (N4 Squadron, FMA, NSSC, Shipyard or higher).
- BA/BS Degree
- Active Secret security clearance required.
- Prior Military experience preferred
