      What to Expect...

      Drives the day to day performance and on time delivery of testing services in the departments; assists in the continuous improvement of the testing services, scientific expertise and departmental capabilities. Meets client expectations in delivery of testing services.

      Essential Job Duties:

      • Managerial and Leadership duties and responsibilities:

        • Responsible for driving overall performance and delivery of on time services for the regional department regionally.

        • Responsible for the technical and administrative management of the assigned scientific discipline (Histology, Microbiology, Safety, Special Chemistry, Flow, TCI, Genomics or Immunology) regionally.

        • Responsible in leading with the Global Department Director and Global Scientist(s) in the developing Labcorp’s capabilities in the relevant scientific discipline.

        • Responsible for leading business development activities.

        • Responsible for the quality performance of all regional technical services associated with assigned scientific discipline.

        • Responsible for regional sites in meeting regulatory requirements.

        • Responsible for meeting established quality measures and on time responses to quality issues (QEs, PTs, QCSR, etc.).

        • Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction.

        • Actively participates with VP Global Lab Operations in the strategic planning and management of the global laboratory network.

        • May be in charge of leading a site, as site head

      • Strategy Business and Development:

        • Serves as the senior regional scientific expert and resource for the relevant discipline.

        • Collaborates with the Global Department Director, as required, in the strategic planning of departmental regional growth in both capacity and scientific capabilities.

        • Develops and manages regional department budgets, technology plans and operational plans necessary to execute the strategic plan for the department.

        • Participates in the global capital projects to enhance the delivery of services.

        • Participates in scientific assessment, validation and delivery of new services offerings as identified by the New Test Feasibility and NSSO processes.

        • Provides consultative support to the Sales and marketing department as needed and to ensure laboratory has capability to deliver on services sold.

        • Participates in client visits, audits, and delivers on time responses to enquiries and audit findings.

        • Provides technical consuls, as needed, for both internal and external clients.

        • Supports the Global Department Director, as needed, in the execution of all other global duties including acting on behalf of the director in his/her absence.

        • Supports Process Excellence projects and other process improvement initiatives.

      • Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:

        • Responsible for timely and efficient regional production by his/her department in accordance with Labcorp quality standards.

        • Monitors and manages the regional application of global processes and performance metrics.

        • Evaluates processes to detect adverse trends; provides corrective measures as needed.

        • Ensures regional regulatory compliance with local manager.

        • Ensures the timely and efficient scheduling and execution of all regional support activities essential to the operation of the department.

        • Facilities communications between the regional department unit and counterparts at other sites, and with other functional areas including CTMS and Sales and Marketing.

        • Ensures on time delivery of new test validations to meet client expectations and Labcorp commitments.

        • Ensures that client contacts in areas of expertise are provided in a timely and professional manner.

      • Personnel:

      • Recruits, develops and evaluates senior management personnel of the department globally.

      • Ensures that excellent management and supervisory personnel are available to oversee the regional operations of the department.

      • Evaluates senior regional department management personnel

      • Monitors regional volume trends and forecasts and works with the Senior Director Operations to assure availability of sufficient trained personnel to meet projected volume.

      • Ensures that both testing and support staff is available, trained and competent to meet the workload needs of the department and are adequately supervised.

      • Converts volume forecasts into specific personnel resource needs and works with the department director and senior director operations to secure necessary and appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

      • Essential External Client-related Job Duties

        • Supports global marketing and sales business development efforts by communicating and demonstrating the department’s capabilities through written materials, personal meetings and scientific conferences.

        • Ensures client satisfaction through excellent regional relationship management, local testing quality and timely local contractual execution.

        • Provide support, as required, to the global department leader (director or associate director) and assist in the fulfillment of your responsibilities.

        • Supports marketing and sales as needed in their efforts to meet specific client requests for testing services.

        • Participates to client calls as needed

        • Participates in client visits, audits, and inquiries; ensures complete fulfillment of requests and audit findings

      Experience:

      • Requires 5 years management experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

      Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses:

      Required:

      • Requires BS degree in Biology, Chemistry or other Life Science; or Medical Technology degree.

      • Prefer Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific discipline or business administration.

      • Prefer board certification or other scientific certification by recognized authority

      Pay Range: $152,375k-$217,235k-$228,097k

      Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
