- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or advertising or 7+ years experience in communications.
- Seven (7) years of experience is required.
- Master’s degree in communications or MBA
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
- May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
Job Description:
The Region Director of Internal Communications will work closely with the Canyons Region Vice President of Communications and is responsible for leading complex communications, regionwide communications planning, input and strategy creation, implementation support, budget review, and will recommend solutions for multiple communication projects to meet region communication, and reputation goals and is responsible for oversight of the creation, development and implementation of strategic communication plans, projects, and portfolios. The incumbent will revise and create existing communication strategies and in partnership with the Canyons Region President’s Senior Advisor, support and navigate communications for the Canyons Region Executive Team (RET). Leads communications efforts to internal audiences and consults on messages to external partners, anticipates and supports the region’s response to emerging local and national issues, consumer preferences and trends and builds mutually positive and constructive relationships between Intermountain, the region, key internal and external audiences and creates / maintains an editorial calendar and consistently analyzes the performance of the plans and effectiveness of communications.In market (Utah/Idaho) residency is preferred but not required. This position can be performed remotely with some travel as-needed (anticipate to be 4-5 times per year)Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, HI, RI, WA.
The successful candidate will:
Work with the Canyons Region vice president of communications and leadership team to develop and support fully aligned regional strategic communications plans and multiple tactics to support and fulfill the operational goals and objectives of the Canyons Region in collaboration with Enterprise Internal Communications, Clinical Communications, Marketing, Branding, Government Affairs, other regions, Region Executive Team members, and other Intermountain leaders. Support and compliment other marcom efforts taking place at the enterprise, region and market level.Implement measurement tools to determine the effectiveness of communications programs and create plans to improve results; generates insights regarding the results of plans and programs. Communicates results to leadership directly.
Implement specific communications projects, events, and programs within a given timeframe, ensuring high quality and on-budget delivery. May help supervise outside vendors.
Create and manage events and products to communicate to Canyons Region caregivers, including the supervision of newsletters, meetings, broadcasts (including town hall meetings, etc.), events, region president communications, internal and external presentations, and other communications projects, etc.Manage and complete multiple assignments in short time frames and coordinate diverse projects and activities into a cohesive and strategic program.
Support the creation of integrated and shared content for the Canyons Region team and ensure coordination between MarCom departments, other Intermountain departments, internal and external partnerships, etc.
Participate with a team to create and oversee the annual creation and ongoing monitoring of the Canyons region communications budget.Oversees and manages staff (employed or contracted) to fulfill strategies, mission, and goals.
Connect and coordinate with marketing, design, branding, sponsorship, and video production and ensure brand integrity and strategy alignment.
Provides a high level of relationship building and business strategy.
Serves as a member of the Canyons Region MarCom leadership team, organizes, supports, and coordinates region-wide communication team meetings.
In partnership with the Vice President of Communications, and the region MarCom leadership team, creates, maintains, supports, and updates team performance board communication tools.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals. Relocation or signing bonuses may be considered.
