      Description

      Position Purpose

      Manage the financial affairs of the Family entities, namely:

      • Assumption, Bellingham (incl. Assumption Catholic School)
      • Sacred Heart, Bellingham (incl. Viking Catholic)
      • St. Joseph, Ferndale (incl. St. Anne, Blaine and St. Joachim, Lummi)
      • St. Joseph, Lynden (incl. St. Peter, Deming and associated cemeteries)

      Responsibilities

      General

      1. Carry out the mission of Christ according to the dictates of the Catholic Church, within the areas of Family responsibility, guided by the vision of the Family pastor.
      2. Work to stay current in knowledge and skills related to job responsibilities.
      3. Participate in Family staff meetings and activities when requested by the Pastor.

      Specific

      Structural

      1. Create, implement, and maintain consistent financial policies across all Family entities. These policies should respect all directives of the Archdiocese of Seattle.

      Budgeting

      1. Run the annual budgeting process, including necessary consultation with Pastor, Staff, and Consultative Bodies.
      2. Communicate to staff their approved budgets and spending limits; approve over-budget spending, consulting with the Pastor when necessary.

      Bookkeeping

      1. Mange Family Payroll
      2. Directly, through managed staff, or through volunteers:
        1. Code and pay invoices for general operations of the Parishes
        2. Reconcile and record Sunday Collections, and other monies received by the Parishes
        3. Record journal entries as unusual transactions occur
        4. Reconcile bank and PRF statements
        5. Produce necessary IRS or legal documents

      Consultative

      1. Keep the Pastor apprised of the financial state of the Family entities, provide timely warnings of financial struggles, and continually look for improvements to Family spending practices.
      2. Schedule and run meetings of Family Financial Councils, preparing all necessary information so that these councils can provide meaningful advice and accountability on Family financial affairs.
      3. Provide regular financial updates to parishioners; produce the annual financial report to parishioners and the Archdiocese.

      Miscellaneous

      1. Directly, through managed staff, or through volunteers:
        1. Manage national and diocesan collections, including the Annual Catholic Appeal.
        2. Manage the annual Family stewardship drive, and any extraordinary fundraising.
        3. Maintain and foster necessary money counter operations.

      Qualifications


      EXPERIENCE:

      1. Demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity and solve complex situations.
      2. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
      3. BA or degree preferred
      4. Excellent report writing skills.

      1. Desire to grow in personal faith life and enthusiasm for sharing the joy of the Gospel.
      2. Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

      Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
