      We are now looking for a

      Regional Manager Project Operations

      to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent and the location for the position is in Lumut, Malaysia.

      What you will be doing

      As the Regional Manager Project Operations for Shipbuilding Projects in Malaysia, you will assume responsibility for overseeing the local branch operations and coordinating the site installation team for electrical installation projects.

      Your primary focus will be to maintain close communication with customers, serving as local representative for our project manager. Additionally, you will provide support to the sales team by leveraging regional proximity to identify potential markets and nurture customer relationships.

      In your role as site manager, you will be tasked with managing all aspects of electrical installation work on-site. This includes ensuring seamless coordination among various stakeholders both internally and externally, with a keen eye on meeting project timelines and exceeding client expectations. Your leadership and strategic guidance will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of shipbuilding projects, contributing to the overall growth and suc-cess of our operations in Malaysia.


      As Regional Manager Project Operations, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

      • Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator of the local Wärtsilä SAM Electronics GmbH branch office.
      • Manage the electrical installation site team, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing, secur-ing the electrical installation work package on the shipyard.
      • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and man-aging expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
      • Act as the local representative for the project manager, conveying project updates, challenges, and suc-cesses effectively.
      • Provide essential support to the sales team by leveraging regional proximity to identify potential markets, develop leads, and nurture customer relationships.
      • Collaborate with various departments to streamline project workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely project delivery.
      • Provide leadership and guidance to the project installation team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
      • Oversee local procurement activities, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and materials sourcing, to support project requirements.

      To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

      • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field
      • Proven track record of at least 10 years in project management or site installation management, with experience in ship newbuilding or similar complex engineering projects, within an international context.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stake-holders.
      • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple topics simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
      • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to overcoming challeng-es.
      • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
      • Fluency in English language, and proficiency in German (at least C1).
      • Willingness to relocate / work in Malaysia.
