      Job Description:
      Regional Workforce Advisors (RWAs) were established by the Education and Economic Development Act of 2005, which was comprehensive, reform-focused legislation that addresses workforce development through education reform. Regional Workforce Advisors are designated to coordinate and facilitate the delivery or information, resources, and services to students, educators, employers, and the community.

      The primary responsibilities of the Regional Workforce Advisors are to:
      - provide services to students and adults for career planning, employment seeking, training, and other support functions;
      - provide information, resources, and professional development programs to educators;
      - provide resources to school districts for compliance and accountability pursuant to the provisions of this chapter ;
      - provide information and resources to employers including, but not limited to, education partnerships, career-oriented learning, and training services;
      - facilitate local connections among businesses and those involved in education; and
      - work with school districts and institutions of higher education to create and coordinate workforce education programs.

      Regional Workforce Advisors are to be a resource for helping to create a workforce of the future, by bridging gaps at the local level between those who educate students and those in the business community, connecting students to future career opportunities and higher education to develop a workforce that will meet the needs of both existing prospective industries. This includes planning and promoting career information, employment options and preparation programs related and relevant to the high demand, high wage jobs available in South Carolina.

      Regional Workforce Advisors are apart of the Employment Services Division within the SC Department of Employment and Workforce, and work in conjunction with the Office of Statewide Workforce Development and the Coordinating Council for Workforce Development. Each Regional Workforce Advisor also has an Advisory Board comprised of local leaders in their region. There is one Regional Workforce Advisor located in each of the 12 Local Workforce Development Areas across the state.


      A bachelor’s degree and relevant training and experience; OR any equivalent combination of education, relevant training and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.

      Candidate must reside or do business in Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
      A successful candidate will be self-motivated, self-driven, and self-managed who can build working relationships with executives, government officials, education leaders, and other economic development allies, and lead and influence in this role. Other skills and abilities include interpersonal skills, a strong ability to effectively communicate complex issues, as well as the ability to conduct persuasive presentations. Customer service skills are essential. High degree of analytical skills, time management, and initiative is needed, and the ability to meet deadlines under short time constraints. Must have the ability to represent the State of SC and the SC Department of Employment and Workforce with integrity and confidentiality.
