Job Description

- Create/update/maintain information in AFP Systems;
- Respond to requests for information from legally entitled persons and/or agencies;
- Maintain client relationships;
- Undertake all duties related to the AFP’s National Police Checking Service;
- Training and guiding other staff in the performance of any of the above functions.
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to learn to operate within legislative instruments
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience in general clerical tasks.
- Has experience working in high volume processing roles.

Role Summary

The Criminal Records team function contributes to keeping Australia safe. It provides the AFP National Police Checking service as well as providing criminal history information across police jurisdictions and other Government agencies.
This role provides high level support to the team and delivers services to legally entitled entities, including AFP appointees, members of the public, other police services, Government and private clients and Government regulatory agencies.
In this role you will provide guidance and advice on the application of legislation, including spent conviction legislation where relevant, in determining the retention and release of AFP records and holdings for a variety of purposes.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
