Job summary
Queensway Hospital, part of the specialist Ellern Mede Group, is looking for a registered mental health nurse to join the team. We provide high-quality, compassionate inpatient care for adults with complex and acute mental health needs.

As part of a forward-thinking team, you will help shape and continuously improve our offer, including Reduced Restrictive Practice programming, NG feeding support, and recovery-oriented MDT working. You will bring
Registered Nurse status with a passion for mental health
Experience in inpatient MH care acute, complex, or eating disorder settings
Strong clinical skills (NG-feeding, risk, care planning) and knowledge of legal frameworks
Excellent communication, resilience, and collaborative practice
Desire to lead with compassion, mentor others, and actively shape service improvements
Main duties of the job
What you will do
Deliver trauma-informed, up-to-date therapeutic care inline with NICE guidelines, MHA, MCA, and safeguarding frameworks
Work across Elizabeth Upper Ward, our dynamic acute mental health unit supporting individuals during times of crisis.
Be part of Elizabeth Lower Ward, offering bespoke care packages for patients with complex mental health conditions, including personality disorders and comorbid needs.
Develop holistic care plans in partnership with patients and their families
Provide safe medication administration, including NG-tube feeding where required, risk assessment, and positive risk-taking
Uphold the NMC Standards of Proficiency, demonstrate leadership as Nurse-in-Charge, and mentor junior staff/students
Support governance through documentation, audits, clinical training, and incident management
Contribute to a culture of learning, safety, compassion and collaborative working
About us
We deliver person-centred, trauma-informed care, and actively involve patients and families in care and treatment, including weekly community forums, therapeutic planning, and feedback processes all supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team, including OT, psychology, dietetics, and peer support.
