- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) and C.P.R. certification
- Previous apheresis experience preferred
- Excellent IV and venipuncture skills
- Experience in accessing central venous catheters, port-a-cath and PICC lines
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing environments and travel between TWH, TGH, MSH and PMH
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Evidence of co-operative and facilitative relationships while working with an interdisciplinary team, and the ability to work independently
- Process ability to conduct a functional health assessment, skills in psychosocial assessment and intervention and patient/family health teaching skills
- Demonstrated leadership/in-charge skills, and evidence of strong organizational and decision-making skills
- Evidence of commitment to self-directed, lifelong learning
- Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario preferred

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: $37.93 - $54.37 per hour (start rate in accordance with collective agreement)

Closing Date: January 11, 2024As a member of the UHN and the Nursing Interdisciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse in the Apheresis Unit practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The principal responsibilities of the Apheresis Nurse includes: performing a variety of apheresis and photopheresis procedures in according with UHN policies and FACT SOPs; demonstrates the ability to assess patients/donors pre, during and post apheresis procedures; recognizes and effectively treats patient/donor adverse reactions; safely transfuse blood components and manage fluid volumes while performing apheresis procedures; demonstrates the ability to operate the apheresis equipment; independent initiation, performance of procedure and termination of apheresis procedure in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice for Nursing and the mission & vision of nursing at the UHN.
