      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen at our South Bristol Satellite Dialysis Unit for a Registered Nurse, to join us on a full time basis!

      • You will have the responsibility to care for a group of patients each shift and partake in all aspects of haemodialysis patient care as well as have a group of patients as a named nurse to oversee their blood results and overall care.
      • A strong sense of teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential for the role. Support will be given to achieve your haemodialysis competencies if not already completed and develop your skills in all aspects of haemodialysis care.

      The unit has 20 haemodialysis stations and is open 6 days a week, Monday -Saturday, 0630-19.00hrs per day.

      Please note: this role is based at our South Bristol Dialysis Unit in Knowle, please ensure you are able to commute prior to applying.

      Main duties of the job

      Working within our department, your main duties will include:

      • Organising and participating in the delivery of high standards of evidence-based nursing care.
      • Taking responsibility to carry out required planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision, in accordance with established nursingprocedures and policies.
      • Contributing towards the health promotion for all patients by provided education, support and advice as necessary, ensuring referral to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.
      • In the absence of senior staff, taking responsibility for the delegation and supervision of appropriate work to other qualified staff, healthcare support workers and students.
      • Co-ordinate a shift on a regular basis to develop leadership and management skills with the support of senior colleagues
      • Undertake named nurse responsibilities for a group of patients monitoring their renal treatment and care interventions from the wider multidisciplinary team
      • Taking personal responsibility for treating all patients with courtesy, respecting their individual needs, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
      • Ensuring provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors, and colleagues

      • In support of senior staff or ward manager assist with monitoring and report to ensure stock levels are maintained and that the correct quantities are in supply.
      • Monitor the use of supplies by junior staff to promote efficient use of all supplies.

      • Completion of renal competencies and/ or course

      Work Experience

      Essential

      • Completion of training for extended roles required by the ward / department. i.e. IV drug administration, cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs, clinical history taking and physical examination competency
      • Currently working in an acute hospital setting, as a Qualified Nurse or a Qualifying Student

      Desirable

      • Experience in renal haemodialysis
