      Job summary

      Are you a registered nurse or a nursing student who has recently qualified or due to qualify within the next month?If so, we would encourage you to apply to join our highly professional nursing team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

      We have vacancies within the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) and Ward 6 (Cardiology) on the South Tyneside site (Full-time / Part-time).

      You must be an NMC Registered Adult Nurse or a nursing student due to qualify within the next month. Recent RN or student management experience on an EAU / cardiology ward is preferred but not essential.

      For both roles we are looking for nurses who are enthusiastic and motivated, who can demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude, who have a desire to provide high quality, effective and efficient patient care.

      You must work well in a team and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and relatives/carers. You will be required to be receptive to change, dynamic and demonstrate active assistance and support when working as part of a team.

      If you are a new registrant, you will be supported through our 12-month multi-professional preceptorship programme by our Preceptorship Lead and in clinical practice by an allocated and experienced clinical practitioner. We will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout your transitional period while you develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become a confident and competent practitioner.

      Main duties of the job

      As part of the role you will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for patients designated to your care. You will be expected to supervise non-registered staff as stipulated by the NMC under the requirements of the delegation, and always work to the NMC code and Trust policies and procedures.

      You will be expected to provide effective leadership and assist with the management and organisation of the ward/department in the absence of the ward manager or junior sister / charge nurse, whilst complying with the Trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.

      You must have the ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information and be able to work as part of a team as well as the ability to work without supervision. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and leadership skills and be competent in the use of IT such as Microsoft Office.

      You must also have a good understanding and knowledge basis of national health and social care policy.

      Interviews are scheduled to take place on 16th June 2025, and shortlisted candidates must be able to attend a face-to-face interview.
