Job summary
We are looking for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to work within our small team in the heart centre and alongside the expanding Cardiology department. The Heart Centre carries out coronary angiograms and a variety of cardiac device implants as well as specialist echocardiography services. You will be involved in the preparation of patients for these services, assisting consultants with the procedures and recovering the patients after the procedures.
We also assist other services from within Harrogate hospital - blood transfusions, calcium and other infusions for the Oncology department, as well as joint and spinal injections for Radiology.
Main duties of the job
We have recently refurbished our Lab and are hoping to expand our cardiology services in the coming months and years to take full advantage of our new facility.
The new person must be able to demonstrate at interview that they can work well in a small team and also demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for all things cardiac. You need to have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Informal visits and enquiries to the Unit Manager are strongly encouraged.
About us
The post holder will be a member of the nursing team and adhere to meet high professional standards of patient care and effective service delivery within the Heart Centre.
The Heart Centre performs cardiac investigations that include Coronary Angiograms, Transoesophageal Echocardiograms, Dobutamine Stress Echo tests as well as insertion of devices such as Permanent Pacemakers and Loop recorder devices.
The post holder will be involved in all aspects of the patient journey, responsible for the initial pre-assessment through the delivery of care to discharge.
The post holder will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the Cardio-Respiratory department and with those in other departments including the general ward areas.
The post holder will at times be required to work within the Cardio-Respiratory department.
