      John Hunter Children’s Hospital

Join HNE virtualKIDS - Virtual Urgent Care Service!

      About the role:

Paediatric trained Nurses: As a Virtual Urgent Care Nurse, you'll be at the heart of our dynamic team. Expect to handle redirected calls from Health Direct, cases that would have traditionally gone to the Emergency Department. Equipped with advanced decision-making software and video assessments, you'll adeptly assess patient acuity. If escalation is required, our medical officers will be available. At the conclusion of your assessment, you will coordinate smooth transfer to local Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centres, GPs or self-care.

The Role in Motion: Embrace a dynamic routine with rotating shifts – spanning mornings to evenings, seven days a week. Each day offers fresh challenges and opportunities to make a difference.

      • Clinical initiatives for Nurse training will be highly regarded.
      • Paediatric experience within an ED or acute ward setting will be highly regarded.

Guidance and Support: The Nursing Team is led by the NUM and supported by the NSW Virtual Urgent Care Project Manager. Comprehensive education and training will be provided to ensure you're well-prepared to navigate our virtual care environment and associated platforms.

Our Workspace: Located in Charlestown, our workspace fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing. We encourage an environment of continuous learning and teamwork, setting the stage for a rewarding journey ahead.

      • Four (4) weeks annual leave for temporary and permanent employees (pro-rata if part time).
      • Fitness Passport.
      • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members.
      • Opportunity to work and collaborate with a range of non-clinical and clinical professionals.
      • Working for a highly regarded public health facility, where supporting the local community is at the forefront of our business strategy.
      • Career Development opportunity.

      Requirements:
