The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a targeted primary health care service located in Kings Cross, which is involved in the prevention, treatment, and care of people with HIV/AIDS and other transmissible infections among people who inject drugs, people experiencing homelessness, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people who sex work, LGBTQI+ people and ‘at -risk’ young people.

KRC are looking for a nurse to join our dynamic and innovative team. Applicants with experience in sexual health, drug and alcohol, primary healthcare or a related field are preferred. KRC is a fast-paced progressive service with a large multidisciplinary team. We are focused on the training and education of staff, collaboration with other services, and above all, providing trauma informed care to the communities we work with through a harm minimisation lens. We are looking for a motivated individual with skills in team collaboration, a willingness to learn and able to provide compassionate, non-judgmental care. The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to clients attending KRC and outreach/specialist services consistent with SESLHD policies, procedures, and standards. The nursing staff provide a diverse range of specialist services including sexual health assessment, STI screening and treatment, client education and health promotion, in-service triage, administration of opiate agonist treatment, wound dressings, outreach, vaccination, provision of nicotine replacement therapy and naloxone and other duties as directed by the NUM.

The Kirketon Road Centre values diversity and recognises the important contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the healthcare sector. We encourage all suitably qualified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a passion for nursing to apply and be part of our team. By applying for a nursing vacancy at the KRC, you will be contributing to the health and wellbeing of your community while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.
We also encourage applicants from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds to apply.

KRC is one of the sexual health and blood borne virus services (SHBBV) within the SESLHD Population and Community Health (PaCH) directorate and this position may collaborate with those services as required.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community. This will help ensure our employees, our patients and their carers, feel supported. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply.
