      We at Fairview Health Services are looking for a dedicated RN for our Cardiac Cath lab located at our University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank location in Mpls, MN! The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

      Schedule: This position will be working 1.0 FTE (80 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 10 hours on the day shift 7:30am-6pm. On call rotating weekends and 1 week night of call. Depending on staffing average is about once every 4th weekend of call. 6pm Friday until 7:30an Monday.

      Job Description

      Performs advanced monitoring using current technology

      Effective Behaviors:

      · Safely employs (sets-up, utilizes and trouble shoots) the following monitoring devices;

      ° Arterial lines

      ° Cardiac Monitoring

      ° Invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring

      ° Right Heart Cath with Exercise monitoring equipment

      · Critically evaluates accuracy of data collected.

      · Formulates nursing interventions based upon data obtained from patient monitoring

      Manages complex medication and infusion therapies

      Effective Behaviors:

      · Safely administers the following medications and infusions guided by knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, normal dosages, and method of delivery.

      Paralytics, Vasoactive, Vasodilators, Thrombolytics, Platelet inhibitors, Antiarrthymics, Antihypertensives, Nipride, Moderate Sedation medications, Heparin, Fluid and electrolyte replacement, Insulin, Blood products (FFP, Platelets, Cryo, Albumin)

      · Safely administers Moderate Sedation medications guided by knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, normal dosages and method of delivery.

      Fentanyl and Versed

      · Adjusts the patient’s plan of care following the evaluation of patient’s response to the infusion

      Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.

      Effective behaviors:

      RN manages patient during procedures listed below.

      Educates the patient during procedure/intervention when applicable

      · Prepares the patient emotionally and physically for the procedure/intervention.

      · Monitors and evaluates the patient’s response throughout the procedure/intervention.

      · Assists other members of the healthcare team during the procedure/intervention.

      · Provides appropriate follow-up care.

      Unit Specific Procedures

      Coronary Angiogram, Percutaneous Coronary Angiogram, STEMI, VT/VF ECMO, Right/Left Heart Cath, Heart Biopsy, Lithotripsy, EP Pacemakers, ICD, Bi-V, Sub-q, Lead revisions, generator changes, EP Ablations – Afib/Aflutter/AV node, WPW, SVT, PVC, VT, EP Study, Loop Recorder Implant/Explant, Tilt Table Study, TAVR, MitraClip, Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC), AngioVac, Procedures with GA/MAC and Moderate, Sedation, Procedures with Laser, Defibrillation, Internal or external pacing, Pericardiocentesis, Chest tube placement, TR Band, Sheath securement

      Required Qualifications

      · Current MN RN License

      · BLS Required

      Preferred Qualifications

      • 1 year of ICU/Cardiac Cath Lab Experience
