- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN required.
- Current OH RN License
- Minimum requirement is 3 - 5 years equivalent experience (Oncology Experience preferred)
- Certification by a nationally recognized professional nursing organization preferred.
- Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
- Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
- Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
- Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
- Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
Registered Nurse (RN), Dayshift, Patient Navigator
UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Navigator position for the at the Barrett Center. This Oncology Nurse Navigator will help support the Oncology team, delivering high-quality care to oncology patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. The RN Navigator is an individual educated in nursing that has acquired training, knowledge and clinical in the management of patients and the ability to navigate the complex academic health system. The RN Navigator will serve as a coordinator throughout the continuum of care and will assess the physical, psychological and social needs of oncology patients in the ambulatory setting. This person provides consultation, collaboration, coordination and support to oncology patients as outlined below.
Unit Details:Navigation allows for you to have autonomy in your RN career. You will become the resource expert for your disease team, and have the opportunity to operate at the higher levels of their nursing license. Additionally, the Navigation team is currently piloting a one day per week work-from-home. This will provide flexibility and a better home/life balance. The navigator is also a salaried position. PTO is only used when a full 8 hour-day is taken off.
