- Diploma Nurse or Associate Degree from an accredited Nursing program required
- BSN preferred
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
- One year of Emergency Department or ICU experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred
- RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of patient
- Evaluates effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific/infection control measures into patient care
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others needs for information
- Responds to all code blues outside of the ED/ICUs
- Debriefing/education post events
- Response to all in-house stroke activations
- Response to all difficult airway activations
- Transport/staying with critical patients allowing bedside staff to care for patients on their respective units
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
