      Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery.       Nepean Hospital is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Virtual After Hours Palliative Care Team. In this innovative role, you will provide expert nursing support and symptom management advice to patients, carers and health professionals in the community—after hours and from a virtual care platform. This position is a unique opportunity to help ensure patients receiving palliative care at home feel supported, safe and connected during some of their most vulnerable moments.

      As a Virtual Palliative Care Registered Nurse you will provide timely clinical advice and emotional support via telephone or video consults, triage symptoms, recommend care strategies and escalate urgent issues appropriately. This will see you work closely with the broader Palliative Care team, GPs and community services.

      What you will bring to the role

      1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
      2. Demonstrated Clinical skill in Palliative Care Nursing as a Registered Nurse including completion of a new graduate Registered Nurse program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse.
      3. Demonstrated capacity to provide effective nursing care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
      4. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work.
      5. Demonstrated excellent communications written and verbal skills.
      6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
      7. Ability to work and effectively communicate with multiple clinicians within a multi-disciplinary team to provide the best possible patient care.
      8. Ability to work a flexible, rotating roster across seven (7) days with ability to work overnight on-call shifts according to the supportive and palliative care service requirements.
