Job summary
Welcome to FCMS!
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Care Nurse(Non Medical Prescriber) to join our North Lancashire Wound Care Service team.
This is a12 Months Fixed Term Contract with Full and Part time hours available
Pay:£23.61 - £27.01 per hour depending on experience with enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays
Base:Working in clinics across Lancaster and Morecambe
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake wound assessments and treatment for patients with both simple and complex wounds. Patients who will be referred to this service will be the following types:
-Post operative including suture and staple removal
-Leg Ulcer may require doppler
-Post trauma skin tears, self-harm
-Cavity Wounds
-Burns
-Patient education including nutrition in relation to wound healing and scar management
There is an expectation to refer to the wider community team if required, support Senior clinicians and HCAs and attend meetings when required. The post holder will help promote the service and implement change as requested from the ICB.

Endeavour to maintain good standards of communication both in written and oral form.
Assess a wound and make appropriate dressing selection for the desired plan of care within the formulary guidelines.
To assess patients autonomously whilst remaining within scope of practice
Show awareness of evidence-based practice in wound care
Participate in promoting and implementing services to new sites when required by the ICB for the expansion of the service
Make entries on patient records to record clinical interventions
Make entries in the clinical notes using the service areas computer programme ADASTRA
Complete associated documents to accompany specimens using Cyberlab where available and label specimens
Work well within a small team
Be flexible with working pattern across the current locations to assist with teams Annual leave / sickness to ensure the service is covered at all times
Communicate with patients and carers in a polite and pleasant manner
Receive and deliver patient related information to and from other departments via the telephone/ emails
To ensure mandatory training is up to date
To be aware of any safeguarding issues and refer to local social services as appropriate. Staff should be trained to level 3 safeguarding through mandatory training
To keep self-updated on practice through educational events and guidelines both local and national
Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language, and emotion
May be required to encourage patients to comply with programmes of care
Initiate emergency action when required
Inform the Clinical Manager of any untoward incidents
Dispose of clinical waste in a safe manner
Contribute to infection control measures by adhering to infection control policies/procedures

Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software or procedures will be provided or arranged.
