      Registered Veterinary Nurse – Ophthalmology

      MVM/R(D)SVS/Hospital for Small Animals

      UE06 £33,862-£38,855 per annum (based on a 37.5 hour week)

      Full time contract 37.5 hours/week

      Day shifts only - RVNs cover an average of one weekend shift per month, paid as overtime.

      Contract Type - Open ended

      The Opportunity:

      We have an opportunity available for a registered veterinary nurse with special interests in the investigation and treatment of all types of eye disease across all species. The role involves contributing to the daily organisation of the service by scheduling and organising diagnostic procedures, liaising with clinicians regarding patient care, facilitating communication with clients or referral practices and teaching undergraduate veterinary students.

      You will get the opportunity to be immersed in specialist procedures and provide excellent pre and post - operative care to our patients. Full training and support will be provided.

      The Ophthalmology Service offers investigation and treatment of all types of eye disease across all species, as well as routine health screening via the British Veterinary Association, Kennel Club and International Sheep Dog Society hereditary eye disease scheme.

      Our Specialist-led ophthalmology service accepts all cases of medical and surgical ocular disease. We have a well-equipped hospital, with state-of-the-art facilities. We work closely with experts in all fields of veterinary medicine and surgery (including exotic animal and equine clinicians), allowing us to offer a truly comprehensive service. We offer a 24/7 service, supported by our Emergency and Critical Care team out of hours and at weekends.

      Your skills and attributes for success:

      • Must be an RCVS registered veterinary nurse (RVN)
      • Excellent organisational and communications skills are essential
      • Keen dedication to teaching the next generation of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses is a must
