      Pain Medicine Trainee

      Applications are invited for Pain Medicine accredited trainee position/s for the Core Training Stage (CTS) / Practice Development Stage (PDS) of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) training program at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania. The applicant must be a registered trainee of the FPM, ANZCA and working towards attaining the fellowship through completion of pain medicine training program of the FPM, ANZCA.

      Persistent Pain Service, Royal Hobart Hospital

      The Persistent Pain Service at the Royal Hobart Hospital is the only tertiary referral pain service in Tasmania and is a Level 1 accredited training unit of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA.

      The Persistent Pain Service is a multidisciplinary service consisting of Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians with primary specialties of Neurosurgery, ENT, Rheumatology, Anesthesia and General Practice along with psychiatrist, pain nurses, allied health including physiotherapy and psychology, and administration staff.

As a major tertiary referral centre, we have facilities including MRI's, PET scanners, a Paediatric ICU, and a hyperbaric chamber.

      Salary

      $97,946 - $138,593 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

      • Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
      • A new wages agreement has been agreed and is currently being registered in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. The new rates apply to this position and are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023.
      • Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees

      Medical Practitioner Level 5-11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar)

      Period of Employment

      Fixed term, full time day work, 80 hours per fortnight, commencing 05 February 2024 until 03 February 2025 (24 months negotiable)

      Duties

      The Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day management of private & public inpatients/outpatients and provides afterhours emergency cover at the hospital as required.

      Essential Requirements

      Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer of any new criminal convictions and/or if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
      • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
      • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

      The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

      1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

      a) Crimes of Violence

      b) Sex Related Offences

      c) Serious Drug Offences

      d) Crimes involving dishonesty

      2. Identification check

      3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
