      Position Highlights

      The Center for Creative Photography (CCP) seeks a creative and collaborative Collections team member with demonstrated aptitude for detail-oriented work. The Collections Assistant (Registrar/Collections Management Professional II) will be responsible for providing user and collection-supporting services, e.g. paging/reshelving, shifting, inventorying, etc. The Collections Assistant will work closely with the Collections team across Archival and Fine Print holdings, and in collaboration with colleagues across units within the Center.

      This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

      Duties & Responsibilities

      Collection Maintenance and Service

      • Pages materials for internal and external users following protocols and procedures to ensure effective management of the collection.
      • Retrieves materials from the stacks for researchers and patrons in accordance with library policies and procedures.
      • Assists with the preparation of materials for use in classes, exhibits, and presentations.
      • Assists with research requests and help patrons with inquiries related to the special collections.
      • Assists in the handling, packing, and storage of fragile and valuable items in accordance with preservation standards.
      • Conducts inventories and perform routine checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of collection records.
      • May assist with the cataloging, labeling, and shelving of new acquisitions and backlog.

      Processing Assistance

      • Completes archival processing and fine print cataloging work as assigned.

      Reference Support:

      • Provides conscientious reference services to users with sensitivity to a variety of user needs and abilities.
      • Brings creative problem solving skills to bear on reference inquiries and performs work efficiently and effectively.
      • Contributes to the maintenance of efficient operations of the Laura Volkerding Study Center and supports users via remote reference appointments.

      Other duties as assigned, including assessment support and CCP service.

      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
      • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • 2 years of experience with providing archival, museum or special collections reference and research services.
      • 2 years of experience with processing archival and museum collections.
      • Master Degree from an ALA-accredited program in Library and Information Science, which includes class experience in introductory archival management.
