Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Key job responsibilities
This is a unique opportunity to assist in the development of a global broadband communication system.
As a Regulatory Engineer intern, you will:
• Work on complex regulatory projects dealing with satellite and spectrum regulations.
• Collaborate with a global team of public policy and legal experts to develop regulatory and policy advocacy strategies.
• Partner with the global licensing team to develop satellite and earth station license applications.
• Develop technical analysis to enable Kuiper’s use of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.
• Work closely with satellite and system design teams to ensure the Kuiper technology and regulatory roadmaps are aligned.
About the team
The Global Regulatory Affairs team is responsible for enabling and protecting Kuiper’s use of radio frequency spectrum throughout the world. The Regulatory Analysis and Systems Engineering Team uses a data driven approach to develop strategies for regulatory and policy advocacy, and to guide the Kuiper system’s use of RF spectrum. The Regulatory Analysis and Systems Engineering Team analyzes Kuiper system performance, including how it is affected by RF interference, and works in close collaboration with Kuiper design teams to optimize the satellite architecture and meet its regulatory obligations.

Arlington, VA, USACandidate must have fundamental knowledge of satellite communications, spectrum management, and regulatory processes.Experience performing data or system analysis using Python and/or Matlab; Experience analyzing satellite communications systems in non-geostationary orbit; Experience developing link budgets, analyzing the potential for harmful interference, and optimizing RF system performance; Experience in the application of the international Radio Regulations and/or U.S. satellite regulations.
