      Under the oversight of the Therapy Supervisor or Center Director and the direction and guidance of the Physical or Occupational Therapist, Tthe Rehabilitation Aide is responsible for assisting with participant treatments, daily maintenance of the rehabilitation department, home visits and ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment.

      Participant Care - 50%

      • Transports and prepares participant for treatment, in addition to providing other support services.
      • Applies and monitors hot/cold packs and paraffin as assigned by the therapist.
      • Monitors vital signs of participants and reports abnormal signs to supervising therapist immediately.
      • Assists with ambulation, transfers and mobility per specific plan of care (POC) designed by therapist.
      • Carries out passive treatments for participants such as passive range of motion and positioning.
      • Guides individual and group exercise programs under the supervision of therapist.
      • Guides participants in the use of therapeutic exercise equipment in the rehabilitation department and in the use of home bathroom equipment.
      • Delivers and retrieves Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as needed from clinics and participant homes.


      Administration - 50%

      • Maintains records of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) per department procedure(s).
      • Makes moderate repairs to wheelchairs as directed by therapist, forwards extensive repairs to appropriate person for repair and/or replacement.
      • Prepares and cleans rehab area by maintaining and implementing equipment systems and performing light housekeeping duties. Reports any unsafe condition of equipment to appropriate staff for repair.
      • Maintains adequate stock levels of supplies and reports when inventory levels are in need of replacing.
      • Performs clerical duties such as filing, photocopying/faxing, phone reception and recording of departmental statistics.

      REQUIRED

      • High School diploma or GED
      • Requires personal transportation, state issued driver’s license, good driving record and auto insurance as required by law
      • A minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly.

      PREFERRED

      • Experience and/or training in rehabilitation techniques either through on the job training or appropriate schooling.
