We're looking for a Release Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality software releases to support the delivery of these services

      About the role

      As a Release Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful automation, build, and deployment of software products within the Service NSW environment. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to streamline and enhance the release management process, ensuring smooth and timely deployments, and maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency.

      Key responsibilities include

      · Automates the build and deployment processes.

      · Configuration and management of environments.

      · Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to releases, builds, and deployments.

      · Optimize the release process to improve efficiency, reliability, and speed of delivery.

      · Ensure all releases are documented & Tested appropriately, including release notes and configuration changes.

      · Work with stakeholders to schedule and coordinate release windows and plan deployment timelines.

      · Works closely with development and operations teams to ensure releases are smooth.

      · Implement best practices for release management, including rollback procedures and release versioning.

      Your skills and experience

      · Proven experience in release engineering or a similar technical role, with a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

      · Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bamboo.

      · Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment tools (e.g., AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).

      · Experience working in an agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

      · Bonus: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).

      Your technical skills

      · Proficiency in build automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Bamboo).

      · Strong proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).

      · Scripting and programming skills for automation (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell).

      · Familiarity with deployment tools and cloud environments.

      · Understanding of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).

      Support office roles will be headquartered across McKell, Parramatta and Gosford. We will consider role headquarters outside of the above locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location taking into consideration the operational, financial and customer requirements of the role, and an ability to attend a NSW Government workplace as required. At the point an employee is notified of our intention to assign them to a role, the relevant leader will discuss headquarter options.

      Salary Service NSW Garde 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $105,986 base plus superannuation
