What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Thoroughly review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data for coding
- Apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers for billing and reimbursement
- Interact with hospital staff, physicians, and other revenue cycle team members as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting and regulatory standards
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the department
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of professional coding experience
- Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong organizational, computer, written, and oral communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in pro-fee and facility coding
- Attendance at continuing education workshops, webinars, etc., for coding compliance
- Strong knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated strong time management and critical thinking skills
