What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct reviews of clinical documentation and charges to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Perform medical records audits in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Research and develop educational materials related to coding and documentation
- Provide coding and documentation support via video calls or on-site visits
- Attend Revenue Cycle meetings to identify educational opportunities for clinicians
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field is required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P, or CPC certification is required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Physician/Professional Service coding
- Ability to maintain knowledge of coding and documentation trends and guidelines
- Certification as a CPMA, CDEO, CCDS, or CDIP to be obtained within two years of hire is preferred
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in developing educational programs related to coding and documentation
- Previous experience working with electronic software tools such as Epic or 3M
- Familiarity with clinical documentation practices and optimization of reimbursement
