- Serve as a UAS Pilot and Remote Sensing Technician for aerial mapping/collections and survey missions across the Northeast region and beyond.
- Lead and coordinate UAS field collection operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and data quality.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for field planning, logistical coordination, and execution of drone missions.
- Comfortable training others with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Coordinate with internal Project Managers to understand project scopes, schedules, and deliverables.
- Work with production teams to determine appropriate field collection and data requirements.
- Make informed decisions on UAS platform selection and sensor payloads based on project specifics.
- Schedule and oversee field data collection activities in collaboration with field crews.
- Actively embed yourself within the team and program operations to maintain situational awareness and preempt potential challenges.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company safety policies, and industry standards.
- Manage project timelines, and communication between departments.
- Maintain drone equipment, flight logs, and operational documentation.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs or more
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance UAS workflows and data quality.
- Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- High School Diploma/GED will be required.
- 3+ years of experience in UAS operations, aerial surveying, or geospatial data acquisition
- Preferred experience with conventional land surveying.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating projects and cross-functional teams (served as lead pilot for several projects making judgement calls in field for me and other field crews)
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a diverse team.
- Clear basic background checks for restricted facilities.
- Up to 25% travel outside of the state for UAS related projects each month
- Experience effectively and professionally communicating technical UAS and program related information to multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of photogrammetry and LiDAR
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Background in civil engineering, or geomatics
- Proficiency with UAS mapping software (e.g., RiProcess, Pix4D, Leica Cyclone, Microstation, TopoDOT, Terrasolid, WingtraHub, and other software’s) (Strong experience in pix4d, wingtra hub and cloud, and experience working in MicroStation conducting feature extraction of photogrammetry projects)

This position will be located out of our Raliegh, NC office and the position is a hybrid field/office role.

As we expand our cutting-edge unmanned aerial systems (UAS) capabilities, we are seeking a skilled and motivated lead Remote Sensing Technician II to join our team.
Position Summary
The Remote Sensing Technician II plays a dual role—providing both technical leadership in drone operations and data processing assistance. This position will work closely with project managers, field crews, and production staff to ensure high-quality deliverables and efficient coordination of UAS-related surveying and mapping tasks in the Southeast region of the US.
This role requires someone who is not only technically proficient but also able to communicate with and adapt to a range of personalities and work styles. You will serve as a subject matter expert, mentor, and liaison—helping to integrate drone technology into ongoing projects while anticipating operational needs and challenges.
