Business and Finance | Office of the ControllerA detail-oriented and collaborative strategic thinker who designs, builds, maintains, and enhances university financial reports, transactional reports, and the chart of accounts; leverages business understanding, sophisticated report writing tools, programming skills, in-depth knowledge of databases, and the ability to perform sophisticated analyses to consume and interpret data sets from multiple sources in order to impact design and assess our complex chart of accounts and reports that will assist the university community with optimizing operational performance, strategic decision making, and goal setting. Responsible for assisting in continuous improvement of business processes and reporting through planning, designing, prioritizing, testing, and implementation of business enhancement requests for finance and supply chain. Requires a unique combination of project management and technical skills as well as deep understanding of the accounting and finance functions; key contributor in developing and prioritizing multi-year strategic roadmap; collaborates with information technology, other departments within the Office of Business and Finance, and subject matter experts. Identifies, understands, and analyzes university data sources to recommend the appropriate chart of accounts structure or reports and queries; the analyst position will document requirements, perform report design, coordinate, plan, and execute testing efforts, and use a variety of project management tools to track and report status and progress. Partners with the Office of the CIO and business units to perform business analysis functions such as gathering user requirements, business rules, data sources, and testing, for new or existing applications. Acts as a subject matter expert on business systems strategies, procedures, policies, methodologies. Provides ongoing communication with customers on system status and data issues and advises on end-user training for business applications to ensure understanding of functionality
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; at least six (6) years of experience in working with general ledger, financial systems or supply chain support experience with two and half (2.5) or more years of emphasis on accounting and financial reporting; experience with Workday and other reporting tools (Tableau); excellent Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) skills; strong analytic skills; good written and verbal communication skills; a willingness to adapt to new business technologies/processes; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field or a CPA; eight (8) or more years of experience in working with general ledger and financial systems with an emphasis on accounting and financial reporting; broad-based knowledge of accounting and financial reporting systems and processes including the preparation of financial reports; familiarity of higher education, and healthcare/academic medical centers.
