      About the Opportunity

      Research and Innovation provides support for all Nova Scotia Health (NSH) researchers and employees across Nova Scotia. Although much of research takes place in Central Zone, Research & Innovation facilitates research projects across the province.

      Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) provides sustainable safe and high quality health services that are accessible, people-centred, promote health and wellness and optimize the health of all Nova Scotians. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

      Reporting to Dr Karen Cross and the Director of Innovation, the Research Associate will develop an active research program in the context of the Nova Scotia Wound Care Centre of Excellence. The Associate will also collaborate on educational opportunities and support relevant interdepartmental residents/staff in the area of research methods.

      Specific Accountabilities:

      Development of Research Program in Wound Care COE:

      • Evaluate research potential
      • Develop research program objectives

      • Deign and Execute clinical trials
      • Design, execute and summarize research projects consistent with program objectives
      • Identify and apply for external sources of program funding
      • Develop linkages with other wound care programs
      • Develop linkages with other researchers in area of wound care

      Education & Information Dissemination / Teaching of Residents & Staff in Research Methods:

      • Support the development of scientific publications

      • Data Analysis; comprehend results for manuscript publication
      • Advocate for and collaborate on opportunities to translate evidence-based research into clinical practice

      About You

      We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


      • PhD in Epidemiology or another health-related field Required
      • University Faculty Appointment with privileges to teach and supervise at graduate level is considered an asset

      • Interested in building a Centre of innovation excellence

      • Work Autonomy and interest in building programs is an asset
      • Minimum of three years related experience in a research environment (Preferred) including:
      - staffing, budgeting and reporting,
      - applying for external sources of funding
      - dissemination of research study results, in various forms, to various audiences
      - graduate level teaching
      - graduate thesis supervision and examination


      • A comprehensive and thorough knowledge of all aspects of running a research program will be considered an asset, including:
      - thorough understanding of research project conception, execution, and summary
      - ability to identify and apply for external sources of project funding
      - program administration including staffing, budgeting, and reporting
      - effective communicator both within and external to research environment
      - teaching and supervision at the graduate level
      - demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
      - ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment.

      Salary Information

      $46.54 - $58.17 Hourly
      $90,737 - $113,4210 Annually

      Successful candidate may be eligible for:

      - Relocation reimbursement with a Return of Service Commitment

      - Benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)

      Hours of Work

      Temporary (1 year), Full-Time (75 hours biweekly) assignment with potential to extend.
