      Overview

      VDH is recruiting for a temporary Research and Statistics Chief in the Division of Health Statistics and Informatics at the Vermont Department of Health. This person will be managed by the Division Director but will work closely with staff from across the division. Duties include project development, consultative research, statistical analyses, public health surveillance, program evaluation, and report writing and presentations. The individual will work with staff to coordinate and implement complex projects and data collection systems, and work with the division director on projects supporting division strategic plan initiatives. Other work may include assisting Department leadership in identifying data needs and setting program priorities, planning and conducting complex data gathering and analysis projects, monitoring use of statistical systems, interpreting results of analyses for programs and policy decision-makers, and preparing administrative reports and documents associated with assigned projects. Additional preferred skills include strategic thinking, communication, and change management. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

      Environmental Factors

      Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Occasional travel requires that private means of transportation be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Master’s Degree in statistics, economics, informatics, public health or related field, with six (6) years of experience at a professional level in the analytical or informatics fields, including at least three (3) years at a supervisory level.

      Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, economics, informatics, public health or related field, with eight (8) years of experience at a professional level in the analytical or informatics fields, including at least four (4) years at a supervisory level.
