- Mouse colony maintenance of our colony in MRB, involves checking the health of all mice, completing daily animal checks and logs.
- Assisting in surgeries to visualize brain activity.
- In order to better understand mouse hearing and its development, the lab is conducting experiments in which subject performance on behavioral tasks is assessed.
- The Lab Assistant will take a role in the behavioral testing, performing preliminary data analyses, and documenting results.
- Assistance with histological procedures, such as tissue sectioning and staining.
- The ideal candidate will have received an undergraduate degree in biology, psychology, neuroscience, or a related field, and will have some familiarity with some aspect of scientific research described above.
- An interest in how the brain processes sound is a strong plus.
- Sound organizational skills.

- Carry out experimental protocols reliably and reproducibly.
- Able to work on multiple priorities effectively.

- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field/discipline.

The Johns Hopkins University is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to carry out important tasks in our systems neuroscience research lab that investigates circuit mechanisms of hearing and the effects of aging in auditory cortex of mice: 1) mouse colony maintenance, including breeding and genotyping, 2) aid with surgeries to allow imaging of brain activity, 3) aid with mouse behavioral testing. 4) aid with histological analyses. Additionally, other duties include general laboratory maintenance, organizing, and upkeeping.
